The most amazing thing about this band is the country of origin: Brafcharge is a quartet from Johannesburg, South Africa, they include a girl in their ranks and they " started out at the end of 2011 as a one man UB40 cover band. In 2012 Braf gathered a few more members, and decided to end the terrible reign of shitty, limp dick pop punk that was doing its rounds in joburg and pta". Braf is an afrikaans nick-name for 'brandy' it started out as a joke page on facebook. I don't anything about South African punk scene but a nice source for a starter about this scene is South African Punk Downloads, i have already dug some cool bands.
As the whatever-charge name and the Discharge letter font reveal, this is another D-beat dis-band, bands mentioned as influences in their fb page are Discharge, Disclose, D-clone, Shitlickers, Motorhead, Wolfbrigade. Victims, Disfear and UB40 (what??? oh c'mon Braf!). I could say this is rather closer to Discharge and Dischange and 80's D-beat than D-Clone and Disclose with a slight taste of Motorhead filthiness in guitar sound. As Kesley (drums) said "although disclose and shitlickers were our original influences our sound changed once we all started playing together and had different musical styles and also different D-beat prefferances" from Japanese to kang/Scandi d-beat. (Thanx Kesley!)The ep is currently only in mp3 format and will come out soon as cd (thanks for the info Scrony!), it consists of six songs and nearly twelve minutes of D-beat hardcore. Old good Discharge lovers will like this little piece of shit. Members of Brafcharge are involved in JV And The Carburetors( Crossover Thrash / Hardcore Punk)
No more rant, go ahead and listen some South African D-beat.

I'm a friend & fan of the band. As far as I'm aware the EP is only available digitally, but they're hoping to put it on CD soon. Just need to sell some more merch so they can afford to. Kiefsous!
thanks for the info Scrony,cheers!
'Braf' is an afrikaans nick-name for 'brandy'....also it started out as a joke page on facebook until a friend joked that he would play bass for us if we changed the name to 'brafcharge' instead of 'disbraf'....although disclose and shitlickers were our original influences our sound changed once we all started playing together and had different musical styles and also different D-beat prefferances (mike liked the japanese style while Kelsey and Pier preffered Skandy D-beat)-from Kelsey(drummer)
thanx Kesley, i added these information in my crappy review.greeds from Greece!cheers and best wishes!
Thanx for your support! Kelsey
cheers and best wishes my friend!
Brafcharge is currently on a hiatus. Pier (basist) has left for Scotland indefinatly, and we are currently in the progress of replacing the bass. Dean (guitarist) is currently getting ready for OEF (Obscene Extreme Festival) Asia with "Touched by Nausea" coming up in 3 weeks time. Kelsey (drummer) will be leaving for Malaysia from July until next year 2014. Hopefully myself and Mike can keep things going until the end of this year 2013 because it's just too good to to let Brafcharge die so soon. To all the origional members, you guys are the filthiest, most disgusting, trashy and best, most loyal mates in the world. See everyone after OEF
Dean insetrnamehere.
So, that is a done-and-over band? Too bad, I quite liked the EP.
