I discovered Ossacrux while i was browsing D-beat and Crust tags in bandcamp and hell yeahhh, it was a sweet find and a blast to my ears! This is brutal crust at its best! They come from New Orleans and their name means "cross of bones", Orgy of Atrocities is their first ep and comes in digital and cd format and despite the black n white typical for raw D-beat bands, this is not the expected pure raw d-beat punk: Ossacrux deliver D-beat driven brutal crust with some metal hints in the shreding guitar riffs, This is brutal, aggressive and ferocious but also captures the attention of listener with its catchiness despite the fast pace. Just try to imagine the sonic darkness and aggression of World Burns to Death embeded in minds and souls of three crusties and you got Ossacrux. Yeah this sonic inferno is delivered by three guys and yes WBTD is the band that first come to mind when you listen these maniacs The cd consists of four songs and lasts less than nine minutes, runs mainly in fast pace with only a few moments in breakdowns and slow pace. There are nice changes making it interesting, the vocalist delivers throaty shouts and sound wise things are excellent. First song's title Enerna made me curious about what it means, there are no lyrics in bandcamp where this is available for streaming and after searching i found this in Antigravity zine:" Enenra is a Japanese demon made of smoke and dust. The song is about the atomic bombing of Japan and features a sampled quote by Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atomic bomb” himself". Good... Overall this is a nice surprise, a promising beginning in a piece of brutal aggression and delivers the goods. The band is supposed to record/practice new material soon and this is good news.
