Disnoise-Pig Flu Demo 2009

Disnoise is a new band coming from the city of Split,in Croatia. Here we have their demo recently recorded i guess, and this is a young band, but managed to put this thing out so every credit to that. It's a five member band, with dual vocals, one is punking the other one is kinda grinding along, with some distorted guitar riffs playing different tunes on each track, but all goes smooth when drums and bass added to it.They offer 4 noisy crustgrind tracks filled with punk all the way down,so id have to say this comes closest to Patareni or Bolesno Grinje,if to be compared. That makes it 4 tracks, outtuned and raw recording,on a demo called Pig Flu.Try it.

WinterAxe-Demo 2008

WinterAxe come from Montebello, LA, United States, this is their nine track demo recorded in 2008 and delivers a blending of stenching crust and raw black metal in the vein of old "true black metal" bands of 90's (plus the acid vocals). There are three atmospheric ambient-ish tracks with keyboards and cello (Intro and Interlude i & ii) delivering sorrowful melodies, the rest of the demo is metallic crust/black metal with slow/mid paced tempos (Hollow spirit of desolation is the only track with a bit faster beat), metallic riffs with some dark and mournful melodies here and there that sadistically seem to last forever since the length of each track is too long, (there are three tracks that last over ten minutes each) but the combination of acoustic parts, dark melodies, metallic riffs, breaks and changes, make the result really interesting. Vocals are desperate high screeches coming from the black metal territory and lyrics deal with inner self and nature search. The look of band reminds me of bands such as Wolves in the Throne Room, Agalloch and the likes, the sound is raw but sick enough to deliver the pessimism and misery for about an hour and seven minutes. In other words this is a band balancing between crust and black metal blending Deviated Instinct and Amebix riffs with Agalloch and Oakhelm acoustic parts and black metal vocals. Really interesting, there s no way to get bored with this.

Konkurssi-2nd demo

These four guys come from Tampere, Finland, they formed Konkurssi in late 2005 and their recorded material includes two demos: The first one was released as CD-R in Japan by Reset Equal Not Zero Records and the second is supposed sometime to be released as a split 7" with another Finnish band.
The second demo consists of six tracks that hardly last over a minute each and delivers a blending of noisy hardcore putting together Disorder, Japanese noise core and '80's Finnish hardcore: Music wise and vocals style each song is a sonic assault of Zuo, GAI, Confuse, Disorder, Conclude, Kaaos etc. These bands plus some more in the same vein are mentioned in their myspace as influences so what else should we expect? The sound is raw and dissent, lyrics are in Finnish (one track in English), the whole thing lasts not over eight minutes and i m more than sure that the voice in the intro of Kristityn helvetti belongs to Mick Harris of Napalm Death.
People of Reset Equal Not Zero have already a bunch of releases under their belt: they are involved with releases of Conclude, Havaistys, Dispose, Abnorm and many others, just check their myshit.

Unquiet Grave-Demo

Unholy Sheffield vegan punx. That's what it says on the bands page of Unquiet Grave,a 4 member band from the U.K.The band itself seems prety new to the scene, but anyway they deliver a really nice sound on this recording. What most comes to youre ears first is the vocals, which are female and i have to say quite brutal, all followed nice by some crushing guitar riffs in the back, which still lost my attention on the way a bit,but yet,the band delivers what its supposed to deliver, crushing crust with nice female vocals. So,overall rate on this is that,if you like Appalachian Terror Unit, with a bit more brutal vocals,u are on the right spot. This demo is self released this year,so give it a try.

Ecocide-Demo 2007

This is female fronted brutal crust from San Antonio Texas: Ecocide formed around 2006-07 and this is their demo recorded sometime in '07. In 2008 they released Turning of a wheel 7" (selfreleased).
The demo delivers five tracks of heavy as hell crust, Heidi's brutal vocals are appropriate and is the voice that could come out from the lungs of a guy, definitely there are typical crust parts and sometimes guitars deliver metal orientated riffs blending black metal (or even some deathrash) with sludge hints in slower parts, slightly reminding of Stormcrow while some melodic lead guit parts here and there work really nice. Rhythm section has a plenty of variations changing the tempo from fast to slower while the whole thing has a doom feeling because of the tuned down guitars. One thing is for sure: the cover artwork does not reflect the heaviness of this demo. The band uses violin (played by Heidi) in Turning of the Wheel 7" (and thats always a plus) but there is no sign of it in the demo, though the leading guitar takes over in parts that the violin would overcome, check "There is no Beauty" 's amazing violin in their myspace or the track from Turning of the Wheel, really awesome! Another fact should be mention is the social awareness of members focusing on animal rights and nature's destruction:"we are a band formed to bring awareness to certain issues like corporate corruption, animal and human rights, and to put an end to ecocide and earth destruction...while riding bikes". Nice! i need to track their 7" sometime, (according to Encyclopaedia Metallum this is one track ep),contact with the band via myspace, some demo copies must be still available

Dead in the Woods-st cd demo

These guys come from Nottingham, UK and this is their 3 track cd recorded in 2008. I don't know anything about them, their myspace has only a few things, they were born from the ashes of band called Army of Flying Robots, they recently released a split tape w Diet Pills .
The demo was recorded in 2008 and its a piece of doomy hardcore, something like a slow and sick version of His Hero is Gone, there is an excellent review in Nineheartz, written about one year ago and describes nicely what the band delivers, here it is:
"Rising from the slumber of Army of Flying Robots foreseeable lay-off, Dead In The Woods lay down some seriously heavy tunes for their first release. Recorded at Stuck On A Name studios in Nottingham, this CD comes in a cardboard sleeve, complete with intelligent lyrics and explanations of said tracks, and a wax seal of the band's logo on the back to keep it all together. You can't beat a well put together CD like this, anyone can throw a few tunes on Myspace for download, but it will never replace the joy found in throwing on a great CD or record, and checking out the complete package.
Musically, this lays somewhere between the slower-to-mid tempos of His Hero Is Gone and High On Fire, and an apt word to describe it would be crushing. 'Sunken Cathedral' kicks things off with a snaking guitar riff, before it's buried beneath the rest of the band joining in, and it doesn't let up for 6 minutes, as guitars trampled you like a herd of elephants, drums pound and vocals roar. The pace picks up slightly for 'With Us The Fire Lives On' with its driving and changing rhythms, before 'Retribution' finishes things off with more tight riffing and thundering drum fills. Speaking of drumming, the surprise package here is Henry, if you've only heard/seen him screaming for AOFR, he certainly knows his way around a kit.
So, great artwork and great music, giving you a glimpse of what these boys can do. More please"

Police Charged-Demo

Police Charged is a five member band coming from the city of bordeaux, france. Its formed by 3 people from already known band Gasmask Terror plus 2 new members. This is infact i'm guessing the pre Warning Warning band(posted earlier) which is made by few people that just love to play noisy punk.Well this demo is quite similar to that, only it has a bit more crustpunk edge to it,though the rawness and noisiness are still here, but the japanese flair is missing on this one,for which the influences are more in the scandi sound. The lyrix are in english and simple. This 9 track demo is self released and you can get it on the bands website or...

Execution of Terror-Demo 2006

Execution of Terror come from Manila, Philippines, this is their demo cd recorded in 2006. A few things can be found in their myspace:"A d-beat crustcore band from different area in metro Manila and Antipolo. Was formed late 2005, and played loads of DIY crust/punk gigs. All the members are currently/formerly played in different bands, such as SABLAY, DISABUSE, BEFALL, D.O.T.S., STANDFAST, EYES OF FIRE & GUERRA MUNDIAL.... We are highly influenced by local/foreign crust/hardcore/metal bands.
the demo delivers five tracks of noisy D-beat/crustcore, the production is raw and makes the band sound noisy and brutal, the vocalist screams/yells helped by some backing vocals, there are some interesting guitar parts and nice leading guitar blending hardcore and crust while drums keep bashing all the time with only a few slower breaks. Demo's length is about fourteen minutes. No bad shit at all, wish only sound quality was better with thick heavier sound but in any case this demo is a good effort.

Skunk-Demo 2008

Here we have Skunk. This band comes from Winnipeg Canada, which is a bit unknown to me,but it doesnt seems so unknown to crust and grind music, since i think its the same place from where archagatus and skeleton come.Skunk is a 4 member band and these guys and one girl seems to just love to play crusty d beat, but not the standard type, since lots of grindcore happens on the way, maybe something like massgrave meets mass genocide process. So on this demo tape, put out in end of 2008,we have 12 tunes that im preety sure will make you feel like you got drunk, beaten, and left to rot.To sum the whole thing, two vocals, one of them female, both scream their lungs out,and punishing crust make this demo sound really nice.Theyre formed last year, but seems to be working hard and already have two splits on the way,one with warvictims and one with twisted system, and also have an upcoming Lp.Enjoi!

Kaosteori-Demo 2008

Kaosteori come from sweden from the city of Trelleborg to be exact. This is a five piece band, with two girls in it,bass and one of the guitars, and think the band is preety new.Anyway this is their demo, recorded around end of 2008,and has 6 tracks of,well, not so heavy as much as mellodic style crust, which puts this band shoulder to shoulder with tragedy or from ashes rise. The crust parts on this are quite catchy, though they dont offer anything new,and afcorse has the usual depressive melodic guitar tangling when they make pauses, which happens almost on every track. Now i dont know the lyrics,so they might be a high point in this band. All in all, this demo still passes the test, and if youre a neo crust fan,you will enjoi this.

Drainland-Swine demo

Drainland come from Dublin,Ireland and this is Swine demo. The band formed in 2006 under the name Eight Types of Destruction, there is an interesting interview here with many details aboutthe band. The demo delivers three tracks and about 13:30" of metallic tuned down hardcore inspired by old Cattlepress, Unruh, Godflesh, Gehenna and the likes. the band offers the demo for free, there is a link in their myspace. check also some new tracks from upcoming splits with Cradle is Casket and Grinding Halt

Shiv-Demo 2007

This is brutal crust at its finest: Shiv is (was?) a quartet from Slovenia, they formed in 2007 , this is their three track demo recorded the same year and the appropriate words that describe it are aggression and brutality: Guitars are sharp and heavy blending metal hints with D-Beat and some nice leading parts and solos reflecting Portland and Swedish scene influences, drums keep thrashing all time and the vehicle moves in high speed while some slower parts pop up from time to time and bring some nice and emotional leading guitar parts, vocals are screamed/yelled and rough, the sound quality is very good. Imagine a nice mix of Wolfbrigade and Tragedy and you got Shiv, i can't find anything bad to complain, wish only there were more tracks. These guys are great, i believe if they were from Sweden or the States, more people would already knew about them

Bio Crisis-Demo CD 2008

Bio Crisis is a mexican band coming from the notorious Tijuana, they are formed around 2004,but didnt managed to record anything till last year. This is a five member band ,afcorse with two guitars,so they can catch that Wolfpack/Skitsystem crust d-beat sound with a bit more intesity, and they pull the whole thing off in a good way. This demo is released on cd format and has four tracks with nice recording which is offered on their page, and also have recently put out a split with Slaktattack from sweden.Enjoi!

Gallery-Demo 2009

Gallery is a sludge/crust metal band from Los Angels, USA and this is their web release demo recorded in 2009: It comes with nice artwork done by the bassist of the band andthe package includes the lyrics. Music wise this is doom/sludge with moments of crusty flavor and delivers a blending of Black Sabbath riffs (check Soulkrusher's opening and bridge riffs and most of guitar work in other songs, there is always a Sabbath feeling everywhere), Skaven's heaviness and Dystopia's intensity, (these bands are mentioned in their myspace as inspiration). The six tracks move in slow pacing and last over 28 minutes, singers throaty yells/screams fit nicely, lyrics are pessimistic and dark is it is expected and the sound quality is excellent. The band offers the demo for free in their myspace and its worth to give it a try.

Inepsy-Tour Demo

This is Inepsy. These punks dont need much of a presentation, since they have been burning our years with awesome metal punk, that goes from usual d-beat punk to rock'n'roll, for several years now.If you have heard the stuff these canadiens released by now, this is quite notable. The first thing they did was the EP in 2002 See you in hell, which has really nice soaring punk sound, then they released R'N'R Babylon, which was the bands first full length, and is preety much played in same style as the City Weapons LP,released later, though the hunger for some rock n roll riffs is more obvious in city weapons, and the seeds that they put in that one had grown in the last thing they released,No speed limit for destruction, which still is metal punk, but has some sleazy parts in it,from a metal point of view, but still, were talking about Inepsy here.Anyway think this demo is released as somekind of promo material for a tour in 2001/2,and there's also one unreleased track from Inepsy added to this. And while were here, just to say for those who like this band, that theres a new release from Inepsy on the way, split with Toxic Holocaust.Cheers!!!

Desidia-Demo cd 2008

Desidia is a five piece act from Buenos Aires, Argentina and this is their three track demo recorded in 2008. According to their myspace their influences are bands such as Tragedy, From Ashes Rise, Remains of the Day, Wolfbrigade, Fall of Effrafa, Kylesa and others. Their tracks are long (the demo lasts for 14 minutes), they are rather to the Fall of Effrafa-Agrimonia-Neurosis area than to the Tragedy - From Ashes Rise and the likes terrotory, there are many emotional slow parts that bring a doomy/drone/sludge feeling, bass is clear, guitars are heavy, thick and tuned down, vocals are grunts, the artwork is excellent and the sound quality is very good, there are two girls here handling guitar and bass duties.
Desidia appeared in Noise & Caos comp , there is a screamo/hardcore band from Spain called Desidia but there is no any relation with the Argentinians

Ambulance-What a wonterful word (demo 2001)

Ambulance started in Umea, Sweden back in 2001 and this is their first demo. They started as female fronted band (guitars were played by girls too), the next year (2002) they released the st 7" and in 2004 the " The End of our Time" lp saw the light of day. In 2006 they released a split 7" w Derrota and the 'Dawn of a New Beginning 7", they also appeared in several compilations including Norrland D-beat.
What a wonterful word consists of four tracks that last for about ten minutes and deliver a raw version of their s/t ep that came out one year later: Raging crusty Swedish hardcore. The lady who sings has a strong voice, the sound is raw and noisy and there are some hints of black metal that will apear in their next recording adding some more darkness
They seem to have abandoned they myspaceshit, in their '06 releases vocals duties were handled by Sylen the guy who was and is in a million other bands, in 2002 they recorded another demo tape (anyone has seen it around?)

Chaka-Democracy and Death Demo 2008

Chaka is a brazilian band, coming from Porto Alegre. This is a 2 people band, the basist is missing, though im sure they come out on top of this with ease.Never the less, this band has all the power needed to perform the discharged, motorhead d-beat crust'n'roll punk played with the smell of some old scandi flair to the whole thing. This is their second demo called Death and Democracy released on cd in 2008,the first one was put out in 2007,and same as this one, both are self-released.Heres also a link to the lyrix if you care.Cheers!

Rise from the Agony-demo mcd 2008

While some say that there's no news in August, here's some good news for fans of Enstand, Strife and Tragedy: Rise from the Agony hail from Rome and Abruzzi, Italy and this is their demo mcd recorded in 2008 consisting of four tracks (plus an intro) and delivers melodic and powerful crusty hardcore.
The sound quality is excellent and the emotional intro is the first sign about what's coming next. Tracks are fast and short with yelling vocals and hints of melody in guitar riffs, the last track is about eight minutes long with slower parts and an atmospheric break in the middle, despite the length is interesting and reveals the abilities of band. In other words this is a nice and interesting blending of Strife's hardcore riffs with the crusty sound and melodies of Tragedy.

Street Fear-Demo cd 2000

Street Fear is an old school grindcore act from Solteira, Sao Paolo, Brazil. This cd is their demo recorded in 2000(not quit sure about the year) and delivers brutal grindcore in the vein of Nasum, Agathocles, Napalm Death (the old grinding era) and the likes. There are seventeen tracks (incl. a Disrupt cover) with loads of grinding noise and brutal distorted vocals, the singer growls in Portuguese and the lyrical content deals with the usual political/social topics, check their myspace for more details about their days and life.
