the Skuds-Just gets worse [2004]

The Skuds is a hardcore band from Georgia, Unites States, they formed around 2004 and this is a demo cd-r recorded in 2004. They have released a couple of 7's (Absurd 7", Millions of 7", a split with Revolutionary Youth and History 7") and a lp (Annihilation), a split with Man The Conveyors is on the way. I have their first two ep's and both come in awesome package with tons of inserts, foldout posters, etc
Just get worse is their first demo and delivers six tracks of powerful hardcore with a touch of D-beat here and there. The sound quality is excellent, some of the tracks appear in Creeps, their second demo cd-r

Samothrace-demo 2007

Samothrace was formed in 2007 by current and former members of Oroku and This Building Is Cursed, the band was named after a Greek island that according to Greek mythology was the home of the Sanctuary of the Gods, also is known for the large half-crumbled statue of Nike of Samothrace (goddess of victory)
The demo was recorded in spring of 2007 and delivers three emotional, lethargic and mournful tracks in the usual slow tempos of Sludge/Doom metal, each track is too long (demo lasts for 28 minutes), there are clear and distorted parts with heavy tuned down guitars. La Llorona (named after a child drowning ghost of Mexican folklore) and Cacophony appear also in Life's Trade lp (2008,Buck Spin)
many Samothrace interviews float on the web, check 20 Buck Spin, Absolute Zero Media Blog and Heathen Harvest for more infos, details etc

Rakkaus-Total fucking lovecore attack [2004]

From their myspace:
Rakkaus was formed at the spring of 2003. The idea to start a new band was to play fast and noisy hardcore. Our first line-up was: Katri - vocals, Juhis - guitar & vocals, Jontte - guitar, Vellu - bass and Juuso - drums. We made one demo (Total fucking lovecore attack) and an ep with this line-up. Then in the beginning of 2005 Juhis quit the band, because he was more into other stuff than playing in a band. We separated as friends. After Juhis left we had a short hiatus, and after that we started to practise just with four of us. Then after couple months Jyri joined the band. Jyri played seven shows with us, including our first show abroad,in k-town festivals in Ungdomshuset, Kopenhagen Denmark, but after that we kicked Jyri out of band, because we felt that he wasn't right guy for us. We had forgotten the most important reason to be in a band for a while; to have fun with friends and voicing our opinions. The last change in line-up came after christmas 2005, when borsu joined the band as a new guitarist. After Borsu joined the band we recorded our 2nd ep and we have played lots of gigs in Finland and done two Eurotours.

James Brown Hide Show-C'est notre sante cd-r

This is mad grindcore from France: James Brown Hide Show deliver the funny side of noise with distorted cacophonous vocals, blast beats, grinding guitars and a funny feeling since they add some sound samples and funny noises (donkeys, sheeps etc) and cover twice the classic disco hit Staying Alive of Bee Gees plus a lightspeed version of Police bastard . I dont know anything about them, their site is in french so i can't understand a single word but there are tons of pictures and a gig list, they seem to be around since 2001. In C'est notre sante there are 14 tracks and last 13 minutes, get the cd from their site or from here

Dodskontrol-demo

I don't know anything about these guys, they come from Copenhagen, Denmark and recorded this demo a few years ago, i don't know if they are still active or disbanded and i haven't seen any other release by them. Anyway, here they deliver five tracks of brutal and raw d-beat fast hardcore. If there is a word describing the demo, then the word is Brutality: The singer spits his lugs out, drums move from fast to faster parts and guitars deliver loads of noise. The sound is raw and hoarse but decent to deliver the rage and wrath of band.

Hammers-Year one (tape,2009)

Hammers is a D-Beat crust band from Manchester, UK . They formed in 2008 and in November they recorded twelve tracks for the Year One tape. It comes in recycled paper and delivers raging crust full of energy in the vein of His Hero is Gone and Catharsis with pissed screaming vocals. 200 copies were made, the sound quality is decent and the band offer the tape for free from their myspace (lyrics and explanation are included). If you want a copy check Hit Time Records
Members of Hammers are involved (previously and currently) with bands such as Hail Brethren, Run Like Hell, Get Stuffed, Blackened Heart Syndrome, Funeral Diner (US) and The Secret (Italy). They recently released a six track 7" in a amazing package of handmade recycled paper, (i got a copy of it and i was surprised when i first put my hands on it by the cover/package), also there are plans for a split ep with War Coma from Manchester and a 10" split with Burning the Prospect
(the picture above is taken from a flyer and it isn't the original cover )

Death From Above-Lost in the war insane

Death from Above are some D-Beat maniacs from Gyn city, Goias, Brazil, they formed in 2006 and this is their seven tracks demo recorded in the end of the same year.
Despite the fact that there is no Dis in their name, the Discharhe font and cover artwork should make you suspicious about what we got here: D.F.A. is the absolute D-Beat worship: Imagine Besthoven, Disclose,MG15, etc, and you got Death From Above. If you have downloaded this compilation then you know the band. There are six original tracks plus the cover of The Final Bloodbath. The band offers this demo for free in their myspace. (no much infos there, there are some new tracks available to listen and coming from an upcoming cd and a split ep
